Day 1

We depart local area early morning and head south for our lunchtime crossing to Calais. We continue our journey to the Champagne region. A set menu is included this evening.

Day 2

Today we continue our journey into the heart of Austria and to the village of St. Johann im Pongau. This charming little resort houses a baroque twin spire church and a pretty town square filled with quaint cafes, shops and restaurants. We spend the next 6 nights staying at the delightful Hotel Bruckenwirt.

Day 3

This morning we take the short journey to the lakeside village of Hallstatt, one of the prettiest and most photographed villages in Austria. Here 16th Century alpine pastel painted houses cling precariously to a narrow strip of land between the mountain and the lake. Enjoy the market square, offering the opportunity to sit outdoors and enjoy the amazing views.

Day 4

Today we visit Salzburg, 'The Sound of Music' city, home of the Von Trapp family and also the birthplace of Mozart. Dominated by the magnificent Hohensalzburg Fortress, blessed with an awe inspiring Cathedral and baroque domed churches - there is much to delight the visitor! Not forgetting Mozart's Square, Strudel, and the elegant Mirabell Gardens. A walking tour of its major sights is included with a local guide.

Day 5

A scenic journey today via the Postalm including a stop for Coffee on the top before arriving into lovely St. Wolfgang. Stroll along the lake shore, wander its maze of cobbled streets, or enjoy a horse and carriage ride to take advantage of the spectacular views high above Wolfgangsee (Optional). We then join our steamer across the lake to picturesque St. Gilgen before returning back to lovely St. Johann.

Day 6

A scenic journey takes us into the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park along the Grossglockner Alpine High road to Austria’s highest mountain. A formidable scene unfolds of glaciers, mountain summits, rare plants and animals - enjoy the views from the sun terrace of the Glocknerkeller Restaurant.

Day 7

A day at leisure in resort. Enjoy a swim in the pool or a spa treatment. Time for Lunch and Shopping in the town or a visit to its magnificent Parish Church, the Pongauer Dom.

Day 8

Today we bid farewell to the Bruckenwirt Hotel and head into Germany to our overnight stay on the River Rhine.

After a hearty breakfast, we make our way to Calais and our afternoon crossing back to the UK.

The delightful Hotel Bruckenwirt in beautiful St. Johann boasts an Outdoor Terrace, Outdoor Pool, Sauna, Steam Bath and Fitness Room. All rooms benefit from TV and Hairdryer. NB There are no Tea/Coffee Facilities. The Hotel Restaurant offers a 3 Course Evening Meal including a Salad Buffet and a Full Buffet Breakfast each morning.
