Day 1
We make our way to Portsmouth to board our lunchtime crossing to Fishbourne. An early afternoon arrival into the Esplanade Hotel Ryde. There will be Tea/Coffee on arrival before checking into our rooms and familiarising ourselves with our surroundings.
Day 2
We head today to Carisbrooke Castle, which has been an artillery fortress and Kings Prison. Following his defeat in the English Civil War, King Charles I was imprisoned at the castle for fourteen months before his execution in 1649. Previously it has been a Royal Summer Residence and today it’s the quintessential romantic castle. We then head to Newport, the island's capital. A market town with a great range of shops and home to the IOW Festival.
B, DDay 3
This morning we visit West Cowes, home to International yacht racing and the World's oldest regatta 'Cowes Week'. After lunch, we board the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Step back to a byegone era when steam was the order of the day and discover an idyllic view of the Island's unspoilt countryside.
B, DDay 4
Today is at leisure to enjoy exploring Ryde with its miles of glorious sands, an attractive esplanade and beautiful gardens
B, DDay 5
We visit Osborne House - once the sprawling seaside retreat of Queen Victoria who claimed it would be 'impossible to imagine a prettier spot'.
B, DDay 6
It's time to bid farewell to the Island as we re-trace our steps home.
