Perched atop the cliffs on the North Devon coast, this iconic four-star art-deco hotel and sea-view spa overlooks Saunton Sands beach; one of the UK's best beaches. We invite you to escape the everyday and take a seat by the sea in one of the most beautiful pockets in the country.
The glorious sweeping golden sands at Saunton are one of North Devon's highlights and sitting atop the cliffs overlooking three miles of beach, this iconic white Art Deco hotel adds to the attraction. Coastal views simply don't get much better than this – sea view rooms overlook three miles of beach and Braunton Burrows (the vast dune system), and part of the North Devon Unesco Biosphere Reserve. This is the perfect spot for watching the clean lines of each set of waves as they break, but even better if you enjoy the seascape from the beach itself.

Day 1
Once boarded, sit back and relax as we commence our journey south, making comfort stops en route. We check into The Saunton Sands Hotel mid afternoon. Settle into your surroundings, escape the everyday and take a seat by the sea in one of the most beautiful pockets in the country before enjoying dinner in the Restaurant.
DDay 2
We take a journey back in time to the ancient and picturesque fishing village of Clovelly, where we can venture up and down the cobbled streets, taking in the views across Bideford Bay, or have a beverage at the famous 18th-century Red Lion Inn. Clinging to a 400-foot cliff, Clovelly is famous for being completely vehicle-less, with local supplies being delivered by donkey, sledge or on foot. We then visit Appledore, perched on a hillside on the rugged North Devon coast, this quaint fishing village welcomes visitors to explore its attractive maze of winding cobbled streets lined with the prettiest of pastel-coloured houses, decorated with cheery hanging baskets, a scattering of lobster pots and arguably the best ice-cream in Devon!
B, DDay 3
We ride today on one of the world's most famous and picturesque narrow-gauge railways; the legendary Lynton & Barnstaple Time to enjoy the delights of Lynmouth, which provides a romantic escape from modern living with its rows of charming fishing cottages and shops that cluster around the pretty harbour and Lynton perched high above, a vibrant Victorian village retaining a quaint mix of times present and past.
B, DDay 4
After breakfast, we journey to Woolacombe. Woolacombe beach stretches for three miles encompassing golden sands with sand dunes and views across the ocean toward Lundy Island. The main beach area rests between the headlands of Baggy Point and Mort Point and has won numerous awards including the Blue Flag and Premier Seaside Beach Award for its cleanliness, water quality and facilities. It regularly features in Europe’s Best Beaches lists and has also won an accolade for being Britain’s best surfing beach. Time for a wander around the wide range of pubs, cafes, restaurants and pretty shops. We make a stop at the beautiful Croyde Bay before the afternoon is free to relax at the Hotel. Stroll the beach, book a treatment at Source Spa & Wellness, unwind in one of the hotel's swimming pools or simply sit back in the hotel bar and watch the world go by.
B, DDay 5
We sadly bid farewell to the Saunton Sands Hotel and commence our journey back home, making a short stop in Burnham on Sea from lunch.

Built in the 1930s, this Art Deco hotel was first opened in 1933 by the Christie family. It has been owned by the Brend family since 1977 and has undergone refurbishment with the addition of a new spa. With chandeliers in the dining room, bold, bright geometric carpets and gold finishing touches, the décor feels fairly old-fashioned yet remains in keeping with the Art Deco architecture and heritage of this hotel.
As well as the main restaurant, there is the casual terrace lounge and the Beachside Grill, plus a small souvenir shop. Both the indoor and outdoor swimming pools are heated, plus the spa has nine treatment rooms. The spa facilities include the thermal suite (salt inhalation steam room, Finnish aroma sauna, an ice fountain and whirlpool tub), a gym and fitness centre, tennis court, daily exercise classes including Tai Chi, plus post-treatment chill out rooms.
